Recreate the Look: The Golden Glow Wine Wall - A Wine Storage Solution for Small Spaces

This popular wine storage solution for small spaces is easy to create with an off-the-shelf wine racking system and a few extras. Follow this step-by-step guide to recreate the look.

Step 1 - Construct the Surround

To create a display exactly the same size as what you see in the photo, you'll want to build a frame measuring 59" wide x 96" high and 14" deep. Include a 3/4" plywood back panel. You're essentially creating a bookshelf without any shelves. Don't worry too much about the vertical seam in your back panel as this will be covered with decorative vinyl film as well as the panel kits in the middle of the display.

The frame in our example was constructed with MDF and painted a satin black finish. One LED puck light was installed centered at the top of the frame to shine down on the shelves below.

Cost-Saving Tip: Skip the surround altogether and simply install the materials onto your existing wall.

Step 2 - Skin the Back Panel

The back panel of your display box can now be skinned with a decorative material (or just your wall if not creating the display box). In our example we used Bodaq's Marquina Campari Marble. If you'd like the same material for your display, please contact us to order alongside your wine racking. Otherwise, feel free to choose any other cladding material, so long as it's flat and easy to drill through.

Cost-Saving Tip: choose a nice paint color to contrast the panel kits. This will be less expensive than applying a vinyl or other cladding material and can still look great!

Step 3 - Install Standoff Panels with LED Lighting

Before installing your VINdustry Wine Peg and Panel Kits you'll want to install unfinished plywood standoff panels. These panels will be slightly smaller than the panel kits and have LED lighting run around the outside edge. We recommend installing an aluminum channel with the LED lighting inside the channel, covered with a diffuser. This produces a softer, more even lighting effect but if you're budget conscious, skipping the channel/diffuser is ok, you're just more likely to see dots of light than an even glowing strip.

You will also require a driver to power the lights and an electrician will be needed to provide the electrical connection. See below for the recommended placement/location of standoff panels:

Time Saving Tip: We offer pre-cut plywood standoff panels with LED lighting with channels/diffusers as add-ons to your VINdustry Peg & Panel Kit order. If ordering these, be sure to include an order note that you will be stacking your panel kits 2 high so your standoff panels can be customized for this configuration. We can also provide the drivers required.

Step 4 - Install VINdustry Wine Peg & Panel Kits

You only need 6 kits to create this look:

Install in the configuration shown below, on top of your plywood standoff panels:

Step 5 - Stock up with Your Favorite Bottles!

That's it! You've now got a wine wall display that will hold up to 96 bottles and doubles as a work of art!

A note on storage capacity: For smaller collections, choose single deep label view pegs for a total capacity of 60 bottles or for larger collections, go with triple deep for a total capacity of 132 bottles.
