A Contemporary Wine Storage Solution for a Lavish Home
Beauty and function should not be ignored in designing a wine cellar. These will ensure proper wine storage and visual enjoyment of your collection. With the help of an expert, building a storage facility in your high-end residential dwelling will result in a magnificent display of your wines. Recently, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars built a custom wine cabinet for a client in West Vancouver. Find out the unique features of this elegant storage space.
Many wine enthusiasts don’t just want a storage room that is functional, but appealing as well. If you’re a budding wine enthusiast who wants a full wine cellar or just a small wine cabinet in your home, seeking a professional’s help often makes a huge difference.
Your chosen company should be able to create a design that will make your living space functional and aesthetically pleasing. Most wine cellar designers have the creativity and expertise to create a stellar storage space in residential dwellings.
In Canada, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars has completed many custom wine cellar conversion projects. Whether you have a simple or lavish home, our creative team can create a wine storage design that will blend well with the existing décor of your space.
Additionally, we always make sure that your precious collection is kept in a stable environment. We recently completed the installation of a custom wine cellar in a high-end home.
Beautiful Custom Wine Cabinet Designed for a Modern Collector in West Vancouver
Our recent project was in West Vancouver, a city in Canada where lavish home designs are a trend, and where wine collecting is a favorite hobby. Our client’s home is located on a mountain with breathtaking views over the ocean. The lavish interior shows the owner’s love for contemporary style furnishings.
The client wanted a wine storage space that will fit snuggly in the back wall of the dining area, which is located next to the kitchen. To meet our client’s requirements, we created a beautiful and effective design that matches the existing décor of the home, and maximizes storage capacity.
A custom wine cabinet is a perfect solution for an elegant space like this. Custom millwork for the cabinet’s frame was designed and engineered by Blue Grouse Wine Cellars. It is stained with a satin black finish to compliment the kitchen millwork, creating harmony to the whole room. The cabinet measures 8 feet wide x 1.5 feet deep and 8′ 4″ high.
Contemporary Choice for Wine Racking
The choice of racking is one of the most important factors that contribute to the overall appearance of a wine storage space. It is for this reason that the aesthetic and functional requirements of the client must be assessed carefully prior to the installation.
In this project, we selected metal wine racks from VintageView. For maximum storage capacity, we designed a 3-bottle deep racking.
There are many known benefits of VintageView metal wine racks. They are very appealing, which make them perfect options for modern homes.
Additionally, these storage racks are designed to mount on the wall, so no floor space is used. This feature makes them suitable for small or narrow spaces.
Finished in satin black, this metal racking also provides full view of the wine bottles stored in the front rows. This allows the client to browse soon-to-be-consumed bottles easily.
Custom Glass Doors
The entryway is another important component of a wine cellar. It affects the visual appeal of your wine cellar, and the conditions inside your wine storage space.
In designing a wine cellar, we always choose attractive and high quality doors for our clients. We see to it that the entryway to your collection compliments your racking, as well as the rest of the furnishings in the room.
For this residential custom wine cellar, we installed frameless, clear glass doors, which go well with the VintageView metal wine racks. The glass doors allow the wine bottles in the racking to be highly visible from outside the cellar. This way, the owner and his guests can enjoy the custom display, while having their meal or sipping a glass of wine in the dining area.
Frameless glass offers little to no insulation. To avoid cool air from escaping the West Vancouver custom wine cabinet, we made sure that the doors are sealed properly. This will help prevent temperature fluctuations that can degrade wine easily. This will also keep our client’s wine refrigeration system from working harder, eliminating high energy bills.
The bronze doors come with oil rubbed ladder pull handles. The top and bottom sections have mount pivot hinges.
Wine Cellar Refrigeration System
A wine cellar cooling system is vital in achieving a stable environment for proper wine preservation. Without it, wine will have off flavors and aroma, and might become undrinkable. When this happens, your money, time, and effort will go to waste.
There are many types of climate-controlled systems to meet the unique requirements of every wine connoisseur. A professional can help you determine the most suitable cooling unit for your wine storage space. The two most important factors that must be considered in selecting a wine refrigeration system are the size of the room, and the number of bottles that you want to store.
KoolR Cooling Unit – Features and Benefits
In this home wine cellar project, we chose KoolR Magnum cooling unit. It is a self-contained unit that is designed with desirable features.
We installed it through the millwork header above the doors, to allow good air circulation above and below the unit. The bright LED display allows for convenient monitoring of temperatures outside your wine storage room.
This compact unit is also equipped with up-to-date digital temperature sensors that adjust the power levels automatically. This feature not only eliminates the inconvenience of manual adjustments; it also ensures that optimum conditions are maintained in your wine cellar.
This wine refrigeration unit also comes with an alarm, which gives a warning when the temperature or humidity exceeds the normal range.
Other advantages of the KoolR Magnum wine refrigeration unit:
- Superior efficiency
- Quiet operation
- Energy efficient
- Easy installation
- Light weight
- Vibration suppression system
- Adaptive fan control
- Affordable
With these state-of-the-art features, KoolR Magnum is undoubtedly one of the favorite choices of wine cellar builders in Canada. Run by a small team of innovative people, KoolR has been providing efficient cooling solutions for 25 years. Learn more about KoolR wine cellar cooling systems.
A Unique Feature of this Custom Wine Cabinet in West Vancouver
The cabinet can be disassembled and reassembled, allowing the client to move it to a different site. Doing this is not quite easy. It requires some level of effort and renovation to relocate the cabinet. Even though the cabinet is removable, it has the appearance of being built-in. If you’re planning to move in to another location in the future, but still want to have a wine cellar that looks custom built, this type of cabinet is ideal for you.
